Go back The mental health system in Germany has de-facto collapsed. 30.04.2026 Germany is a very prosperous country, this prosperity, among others, is not seen by those who are mentally ill. German psychiatries are over-run - to the point of death due to negligence1. Politics fail to present answers, instead of increasing the ressources which are direly needed, they cut them.2, It is known that the mental health crisis in Germany is accelerating at great speeds due to increasing alienation, digitization and the lack of a hopeful future. It is noteable that most mental illnesses occur starting in puberty up until the mid-20s. 3 The care of the public health is the first duty of the statesman.Except if the state, in its' neo-liberal convictions prioritizes higher economic markers instead - privatizing the public health system. Germany does not have public healthcare, it has public insurance. The days of state-owned public hospitals started to end in 1990s, 40% of hospitals have been privatized and 30% belong to other organizations like the church. The population will have to endure the consequences and there is no end in sight, if anything, the austerity is accelerating and the people are finding out that it is not economically viable to have a healthy populace under a profit-oriented economic system.
